HOW TO STORE YOUR BOTTLE
OF CHAMPAGNE
Champagne is an exceptional wine, and like any great wine, it deserves special attention to preserve all its qualities. Here are some essential tips for properly storing your bottle of champagne, whether it's intended to be enjoyed in the coming days or saved for a special occasion.
1. Constant temperature
Champagne should be stored at a stable temperature, ideally between 10 and 12°C. Avoid sudden temperature fluctuations, which can alter the taste and finesse of the bubbles.
2. Away from light
Light, especially natural light, can impair the aromas of champagne. It's best to store your bottles in a dark place or in a cellar. If you don't have a cellar, a closed cupboard will do just fine.
3. Position of the bottle
The bottle should be stored lying down so that the cork is always in contact with the champagne.
4. Serving temperature
The ideal tasting temperature is between 3 and 5 degrees so that the Champagne is refreshing while retaining its flavors.
The little extra: Plunge the bottle into a bucket filled with ice before serving.
5. How long can champagne be stored?
You can keep your bottle of Champagne for 3 to 4 years in a cellar.
If you don't have a cellar, you can keep the bottle for 1 year.
6. After opening
Once the bottle is opened, if you have half the bottle left, you can close it with a special airtight champagne stopper and store it in the refrigerator for a week.
